Outreach To Teach

What is AEMS' Outreach to Teach?

Outreach to Teach is the biggest event AEMS organizes and participates in. We choose a school in the Lansing area that needs some work, and as a group, we spend an entire day there fulfilling the requests of the school - think "Extreme Home Makeover: School Edition." In the past we have done things such as painting classrooms, painting murals, and landscaping. To be an active member, you must participate in this event. In order to participate, you must fill out a volunteer form. Anyone (even non-AEMS members) are invited to help out!

Our Outreach Project was held at Gardner International Magnet School. Gardner is located at 333 Dahlia Drive Lansing MI 48911. Gardner is a K-8 school and has an immersive international studies program based on a Waldorf Education design and aligned with S.T.E.M. This year we plan on updating the library to make it a more comfortable and inviting space, updating the staff lounges with necessary equipment, adding a mural in the main hallway with the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals, and providing school supplies and teacher basket to each classroom.
